Posted by Sprayer Depot on

Step-by-Step Overview

To ensure seamless integration into your system, proper wiring is crucial.

Sprayer Depot's Pumptec 12VDC pumps are known for their reliability and efficiency, making them a popular choice across various industries.

This guide provides a step-by-step overview of the suggested wiring for optimal performance, safety, and warranty protection.

wiring for Sprayer Depot’s Pumptec 12VDC pumps

1. Essential Components:

  • All systems must include a Fuse or Breaker, Switch, and Battery.
  • Consult with a certified automotive technician (ASE T6 Truck Electrical/Electronic Systems) for final approval of wiring installation and electrical components, especially for vehicle installations.

2. Switch and Fuse Requirements:

  • The wiring circuit must incorporate an ON/OFF switch rated for 12VDC and 75 Amps or higher.
  • An overload protection device, such as a fuse, is essential. The fuse should be rated 10-15% more than the motor amps to prevent damage.

3. Battery Selection:

  • Utilize a 27 Series 12VDC Marine and RV Deep-Cycle battery.
  • Recommended specifications: 675 cold cranking amps and 180Ah of reserve capacity at 25 Amps (e.g., Interstate SRM-27B).

4. Wiring Guidelines:

  • Use 8Ga. or heavier SAE 1127 type SGT wire rated to 105°C.
  • Maximum total circuit length for 8Ga wire is 18ft. Longer circuits will require heavier wire.

5. Safety Measures:

  • Prevent wires from contacting sharp edges. Use wire cover loom to bundle wires together and clamps to secure them in place.

6. Warning:

  • Consult a certified automotive technician for final approval.
  • Ensure the switch is rated at least 75 amps or 10% higher than the motor amp draw.
  • Place the fuse close to the battery to protect all wires and components.

7. Additional Caution:

  • Wiring the pump to the vehicle battery is optional. Consult your vehicle dealership before making any connections.

Note: Improper wiring and undersized electrical components can cause equipment damage, overheating, and fire. Sprayer Depot and Pumptec are not responsible for any damage or harm resulting from improper installation.
