R.E.D is an acronym that stands for "Remember Everyone Deployed". Around the country, people wear a red shirt every Friday to show support for our troops. Inspired by our general manager, Al Reale, a retired USAF Command Chief Master Sergeant who spent 37 years working with Munitions, which included several deployments to the Middle East, the Sprayer Depot team proudly takes part in R.E.D Shirt Friday. You can read more about Al in this previous blog post.
R.E.D Shirt Friday spread across the nation thanks to military spouses, families, and organizations determined to ensure that our veterans receive acknowledgment and support.
Paying Respect to our Service Personnel
Men, women, and children across America choose to wear red every Friday to let our servicemen and servicewomen know their sacrifice for the country is appreciated. Other ways to honor our veterans include the following:
- Packages. Even if you do not have a friend or family member serving overseas, you can still send care packages to a soldier in need. There are hundreds of military service people who would appreciate a package.
- Volunteer. If you live near a military institution, VA clinic, or national guard center, volunteer your services or time to visit the injured.
- Hire a vet. Hiring a vet, or the spouse or family member of someone on active military duty, is a good business practice. Veterans are typically disciplined team players and can add value to any type of organization.
Remember, one of the easiest ways to pay respect to a veteran is to simply say "thank you".
